5(ish) Tips to Make Your Relocation Easier

July 22, 2021 By Tami Savage

Relocation can be a very stressful and emotional moment in someone's life.

Whether you're relocating for a job or just moving away from family, a little bit of planning can go a long way in avoiding the stress and anxiety related to relocating.

Hi, I'm Tami Savage with eXp Realty.

Moving is hard, there's no doubt about it, you can't find your things, boxes are everywhere and then you add children and/or pets into the mix, and now you're on complete overload.

I get it, I've been there so many times before.

On the other hand, relocating is an adventure, it's a time of excitement, a fresh start, perhaps a new career, new places to explore, new friends to be made, and so much more.

Your first step in moving to a new place is doing your research.

Maybe you already have a home lined up and maybe you don't, either way research is your best ally, before you relocate somewhere new.

Look up things like what kinds of entertainment and leisure activities are there to go do and see.

If you have children, what are your school options?

Some people who relocate, already have a job offer in the new city while some are just looking for a change in lifestyle.

If you're part of that second group, look up jobs and companies online before you move, so you're ready to apply and interview once you get there.

Choosing a neighborhood, is it possible to physically visit the neighborhood before you move in?

If it isn't, Google maps will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

If a Google maps street view option is available for the area. Check it out.  It's super cool.

It's like a virtual walkthrough of a neighborhood.

Now have a look at the houses around the area, where are the closest amenities?

Is it easy to get around by car walking and or transit?

And don't forget to look at the common places like grocery stores, pharmacies, hospitals, doctors, et cetera.

And if you're a coffee drinker, Starbucks, all of these things should be considered when relocating and choosing where you want to live.

If you've got questions or want more information on things to consider when relocating feel free to reach out, I'm always here to help.

Thanks so much for watching and make it a great day!
